Before/after microneedling on a cheek: scars and hollows clearly reduced after 4 sessions

Before talking about technique, it’s important to choose premium-quality products. Discover how microneedling reduces scars and acne, with two examples carried out at the salon.

Before I talk to you about technique, it’s important to choose premium-quality products for a truly remarkable result. That’s why I chose the skincare products from the Germaine de Capuccini brand. Every time, it’s a pleasure for me to see my clients’ more-than-delighted reaction.

Choosing the right beautician

I strongly recommend choosing an experienced beautician who can show you a wide range of examples of treatments she has carried out herself (beware of generic photos bought online). The results shown below were all achieved at the salon.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment that uses a pen fitted with sterilised micro-needles to perforate the skin of the face, as a specific form of collagen induction therapy. The micro-incisions stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibres. Contrary to what you might think, it’s a cosmetic treatment that is almost painless.

Microneedling regenerates the skin and makes it denser. It’s a very effective way to reduce mild to moderate acne while brightening the complexion, and it’s the treatment of choice for reducing scars left by spots.

Example: scars reduced after 4 sessions

Our client came to us with scars he had had on his face since he was young. After trying to reduce them with lasers, with no noticeable effect, he turned to microneedling. We first looked together at the real benefits this technique could bring him, so as not to raise false hopes.

Beforehand (one week before), we carried out a deep cleanse of the skin, then started microneedling at a rate of one session every 3 weeks. Today our client is more than satisfied with the advice and above all with the results: the scars are much less visible, and the hollows have become far less pronounced.

Example: acne after 5 sessions

Our client came to the salon with acne breakouts that were affecting her enormously on a psychological level. We carried out a deep cleanse of the skin one week before the start of the treatments, followed by one microneedling session every 3 weeks. The visible result was achieved after 5 sessions.

How does a session work?

  • Assessment: we determine your skin type and identify the problems to be treated.
  • Preparation: the skin of the face and the areas concerned are cleansed and disinfected, then the recommended products are applied.
  • Session: each session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, or a little longer depending on how significant the problem to be treated is.
  • Aftercare: it’s recommended to apply a cream to the treated area, then let the skin rest for at least an hour.

We generally recommend between 4 and 6 sessions depending on the problem to be treated; results start to show from the second or third session.
